VIENTIANE (Myanmar)

Captain's Log - date astral Laotian 2014

I get to Vientiane and you quickly realize that a little capital, just over 700,000 inhabitants and is out of the chaos of Hanoi, hectic and chaotic where everyone runs and horn irritate the ears .... here all is calm, slow traffic and life a little lazy and sly ...

The Buddhist temples offer shelter and quiet ... more a silence broken only by bird songs and the prayers of the monks ...

I must say that at first it feels bit 'out ... there are many things to see, but then you realize that the most attractive is the cuisine of Laos ...: fresh food, full of herbs and scents, which are mainly mint and lemongrass ... and specialty noodles should not be underestimated ....

I assure you ever eaten, as here, lots of vegetables and fresh herbs so cleverly mixed together creating succulent dishes and the taste buds crazy!

A viewtowards the river and you spot the Mekong

and all its grandeur and its majestic race through sinuous curves and sweet to Cambodia and then to its Delta in Vietnam ...

So I let myself be lulled by a sweet doing nothing-but breaks with the advent of the new year: all the streets, all in celebration of sounds, colors, and great smelling smoke coming not only from the houses but also the streets where everyone uses eat its sidewalks ... a social sharing important ... smiles and hugs: already Laotians have a very physicist knowledge ..

Tomorrow we set off to bah Na ... the center of a vast protected natural area, famous for its hiking in the forest and the chance to see elephants in the wild ..

Si arriva a Vientiane e si ha subito la sensazione di una capitale piccola, poco piu di 700.000 abitanti e si è fuori dal caos di Hanoi, frenetica e caotica dove tutti corrono ed i clacson irritano le orecchie.... qui tutto è calmo, il traffico lento e la vita un po pigra e sorniona...

I templi buddisti offrono riparo e quiete maggiore...un silenzio interrotto solo da canti di uccelli e le preghiere dei monaci ...

Devo dire che all'inizio ci si sente in po' spaesati...non ci sono molte cose da vedere , ma poi ti accorgi che la maggior attrattiva é la cucina..fatta di piatti freschi, pieni di erbe officinali ed odori, tra cui prevalgono menta e lemongrass...e la specialità in noodles non é da sottovalutare....

Vi assicuro che non mai mangiato ,come qui, tante verdure ed odori freschi così sapientemente mischiati insieme realizzando piatti succulenti e da fa impazzire le papille gustative!

Una vista verso il fiume e scorgi il Mekong con tutta la sua grandezza e la sua maestosa corsa attraverso anse sinuose e dolci verso la Cambogia e poi verso il suo Delta in Vietnam...

Così mi lasciò cullare da un dolce far-niente che però si spezza con l'avvento del capodanno: tutti per strada, tutti in festa tra suoni colori, e grandi fumate odoranti che provengono non solo dalle case ma soprattutto dalle strde dove tutti usano mangiare suo marciapiedi ...una condivisione sociale importante...sorrisi e abbracci: già i laotiani hanno un senso molto fisicista della conoscenza..

Domani si parte alla volta di bah Na...al centro di una vasta area naturalistica protetta, famosa per le escursioni nella foresta e la possibilità di vedere gli elefanti allo stato selvaggio..
