GOLDEN ROCK (Myanmar)

  Captain's Log-date astral Burmese 2014 -

Here I am on the bus to Bagan. ..even if I got up early after a long day yesterday which led me, after many hours of travel before the Buddhist pilgrimage called GOLDEN ROCK: this is a huge rock covered with gold (and on which the faithful continue to add the precious metal through thin leaves of gold that attack on the rock in devotion) behind whose history is intertwined legends really fascinating but for reason of space I avoid describe (just know that inside it seems there are strands Hair of the same Buddha donated by devout gratitude to the king that all 'era was home).

The Golden Rock lies poised precariously on top of a mountain of lush natural destination for a regular pilgrimage which is reached after having risen by authorized means and packed as a throng of pilgrims hoping at least once in their lifetime to pay homage to the sacred rock . It is indeed important for pilgrims from all over Southeast Asia. L 'energy that is created due to the sacredness of the place and the presence and prayer of the faithful is truly remarkable! The journey to get there lasted several hours but it was worth it (few tourists go so far as them ...).

Here are the past for the city of Bago which counts among its many statues of Buddha some of the largest in the world. I assure you that the majesty and the ancient history of some of them is truly fascinating! !! One of them, a reclining Buddha measuring some 54 meters long and 16 high!

The return to Yangon ended with the obligatory visit and reverent to the largest, majestic, impressive pagoda in Myanmar and perhaps all of Southeast Asia.

Over the immensity of the structure that can be seen from anywhere in the city is immediately evident the great devotion and sanctity that is dedicated to it by Buddhist devotees ... the smell of incense announced to hundreds of meters its presence and entering, even before day be struck by the majestic presence of the golden stupa shining under the dozens of reflectors are left breathless by the scent of jasmine flowers thousands brought in homage to the Olympus of enlightened Buddha and that rotate around the base of the Stupa itself .

Myriads of people in prayer and meditation turn their eyes towards the top of the structure where in addition to the relics of the Buddha there is a huge diamond that serves as the ultimate tip of the cone ...
I can not describe the strong atmosphere and energy that permeates every where this place but it certainly remains the most impressive sacred reality dedicated to Buddha I've ever seen!
